Callouts

Callouts turn a blockquote into a colored admonition block, using the same syntax as Obsidian: start a blockquote with [!type] and an optional title.

Append - for a foldable callout that starts collapsed, or + for one that starts open:

> [!tip]- Click to expand
> Hidden until unfolded.

Folding is a web-frontend rendering feature: the browser’s markdown pipeline renders [!type]-/[!type]+ as a collapsible block. The Rust core parser does not understand the fold marker — it still detects the callout type, but in the folded form the title is not captured (the -/+ breaks its title match).

Notes

  • Unknown types (e.g. [!custom]) fall back to note styling, matching Obsidian.
  • The title defaults to the capitalized type when omitted.
  • Rendering (colors, icons, folding) lives in the web frontend: callouts render in reading mode, chat messages, and hover previews; in the live-preview editor the block is tinted with the variant color while staying editable. The Rust core parser only extracts the callout type, title, and content for indexing.
